Foreclosure prevention workshop today - Richmond, IN

Area residents facing the threat of home foreclosure are invited to a borrower outreach event today at the National Guard Armory, 1200 W. Main St. in Richmond.

The event is sponsored by the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network and runs from 3 to 8 p.m.

Troubled homeowners will be able to attend a workshop and meet with a trained foreclosure prevention counselor, who will help the borrower navigate the process and prepare the documents the lender needs to work on an alternative to foreclosure.

Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman formed the IFPN in November 2007 to combat Indiana's high foreclosure rate, a partnership among state government, lenders and community organizations. It has worked with more than 75,000 Hoosiers.
